The effective conveyance of goods across supply chains - no matter how long or short - is a key element to successfully competing in today’s global market. Having witnessed the evolution of new supply chain security business practices and procedures since 9/11, Monument Policy Group is well-positioned to assist companies in their efforts in address the regulatory and policy matters facing firms that move goods globally. On the strategic level, we have advised companies on the political and economic landscapes that might influence manufacturing decisions, business partnerships, and sales opportunities. Tactically, we have assisted companies and associations by developing and implementing strategies for promoting industry best practices and awareness of the benefits that industry driven-solutions can provide for the security of the nation. Furthermore, we have helped companies and associations explain to executive and legislative branch decision-makers how operational decisions are made and how policy and legislation may affect the supply chain.
Our team includes Founder and Partner Stewart Verdery served as the first Assistant Secretary for Policy and Planning at the Department of Homeland Security where he oversaw, among other issues, cargo security and international trade. Partner Andrew Howell, who has represented the policy interests of a wide range of companies moving goods globally in the homeland security era, while also helping position companies concerned about supply chain solutions. He has testified before Congress on these issues, and been a frequent speaker at industry forums focused on cargo security policy matters.
Partner Tim Punke also has extensive experience on supply chain issues, having worked on every major trade issue in the last decade. Tim has helped a variety of Fortune 500 clients and associations achieve results on a variety of trade related matters. Tim's government experience includes serving as Chief International Trade Counsel for the Senate Finance Committee and Chairman Max Baucus, as well as on the Clinton Administration White House staff. Partner Jessica Herrera-Flanigan, former Staff Director and General Counsel of the House Homeland Security Committee, has worked on every major cargo and port security legislation considered by the U.S. House since 9/11.
Monument Policy Group’s members have assisted companies on a variety of issues including development of regulations to keep gray market and counterfeit products out of the supply chain; container screening; cargo security device development and deployment; advanced notification; harmonized tariff system classification; CBP and ICE inspections; and the security of cargo while in-transit. We have extensive relationships with the relevant Congressional Committees, as well as agencies such as the Department of Homeland Security, Commerce, and State, as well as the United States Trade Representative.
