Jane Alonso Named Senior Vice President at Monument Policy Group

Washington, D.C. - Monument Policy Group, LLC announced today that Jane Alonso has been promoted to Senior Vice President at the Firm. Partner and Founder C. Stewart Verdery, Jr. stated, “since her arrival at Monument in 2009, Jane has played an invaluable role with the Senate, in particular on a wide range of issues from energy to health care to telecommunications, and has helped the firm land significant new business in these growth areas for the firm.”
Prior to joining the firm, Jane worked for Senator Susan Collins (R-ME) as Legislative Director, where she oversaw a broad range of issues, including health care, energy, defense, foreign policy, and taxes, and as a Professional Staff Member on the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, where she handled Chairman Collins’s work on international homeland security issues. Jane was also part of the committee staff team that the led the historic effort to write and pass legislation to implement the 9/11 Commission's recommendations to reorganize the intelligence community's response to terrorist threats.
A native of Miami, Florida, Jane also previously worked for Senator Bob Graham (D-FL) and Representatives Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) and John Mica (R-FL).
Jane received her Masters degree in Public Policy from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, where she was a Public Service Fellowship merit recipient. She received her Bachelors degree in International Affairs from Georgetown University School of Foreign Service. Jane loves to cook and volunteers regularly at DC Central Kitchen. She had a cameo as an audience participant on Top Chef Season 7 in 2010.
